Upcoming Volunteer Projects

September 7, 2024 - Willow Creek Reroute Completion

Have you seen the new reroute at the top of Willow? It's sure to be a hit with fun twists and turns and most importantly giving beaver space to do their thing. The Cache Trails Alliance and Logan Ranger District are asking for your help in finishing the newly realigned upper portion of the Willow Creek Trail.

  • Time and date:  Saturday, September 7, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
  • Location:   The "new" Willow Creek Trailhead, 5.4 miles south of US-89 on the Temple Fork Road 007 (follow signs toward Ephraim's Grave).  Park near the new trailhead signboard, 100 yards beyond the cattle guard.
  • Wear:  Long clothing, sturdy boots, hat and gloves.
  • Bring:  Water and a lunch (tools will be provided).

September 12, 2024 - Trail Counter Volunteers

We have a volunteer opportunity that may be just the right fit for you. We need better information about the use of our trails and help us apply for funding for improvement of current trails and building of new trails. To get usage data, the forest service is installing additional trail counters on high use trails (i.e., Green Canyon, Wind Caves, Jardine Juniper, Tony Grove, Stump Hollow, Limber Pine). The trail counters need to be calibrated 1-2 times monthly during warm months and the forest service is looking for volunteers to do the calibration. Each calibration takes about an hour plus driving and access to/from the trail counter site. If you are interested and available to calibrate trail counters, please contact Emily Fletcher at emily.fletcher@cachecounty.gov, or Anna Chambers at anna.chambers@usda.gov

There is a training on how to calibrate counters tentatively scheduled for September 12. If you are interested in attending this training, please be sure to let Anna or Emily know ASAP. Thanks!
